TRY PLANNING FOR A CHANGE
When given a choice, we choose comfort over discomfort, stability over
uncertainty, pleasure over pain and safety over danger. Yet we lament
stale relationships, dull jobs, the sameness of daily life while resisting change
with every fiber of our beings. Involuntary change has been our constant companion
throughout life. And when we have something we really want to do, we make choices and voluntarily make the changes to reach that goal. Logically, we should be good at embracing change!
Consider a baby who has just figured out how to crawl, then walk.
Mobilization opens up a whole new playing field to a baby, allowing for the
discovery and exploration of an expanded world. Before long, the baby is
in touch with God given creativity, and enjoying the adventure of newfound freedom.
Does this increase the risk of danger or harm for the baby? Sure. Do the benefits
outweigh the risks? You bet. Can reasonable precautions be taken to minimize
the risks? Indeed, they can and it is a model that repeats itself throughout life.
How can we follow this example to mobilize our minds, bodies and hearts to embrace new ways of thinking, different ways of doing and fresh ways of communicating? The power of fear can obstruct positive change. Make a conscious choice today to dismantle the barrier of fear and intentionally pursue positive
change. JS
