LEADING WITH PREVENTION
As surely as night follows day, much in life is predictable. The law of consequences applies, more often than not. If you drive a car without brakes, there is a predictable consequence that you will ultimately damage or destroy something or someone. Knowing this, we pro-actively take preventative action. We make such choices dozens of times every day, often basing
them on the negative consequences of not taking action.
We know how to do this, yet we often overlook the bigger issues that have a major impact on our lives, ministry or business.
Too often we get broad sided – caught unaware and unprepared.
In order to lead with prevention, we must not only see our present position clearly, but also the factors that can impact it. Leading with prevention is being ready for the next step
before it’s required.
We can ask the questions on the bigger issues that challenge us.

What would be a reasonable result of this symptom? What is likely to follow in this situation?

What action can I take now to prevent a negative consequence? |
"A prudent man gives thought to his steps.” Proverbs 14:15
Allan and Laura owned a small, successful company, but realized they were at the mercy of three key employees. Each had developed their own systems for the departments they ran and held valuable information not known to anyone else. If any one of them left, the company would be in jeopardy.
A cross training program was implemented. Promo-table employees were coached to become competent in filling more responsible positions, allowing them to enhance their careers,
as well as the company standard, whether or not they are required to fill the positions of key employees. With assets protected, the company is now less vulnerable.
Allan and Laura were willing to look at their present situation clearly, and recognize an area of vulnerability. They took action to create a safety net for employee attrition, while enhancing the quality of employee performance. They led with prevention.
What do you have the power to prevent in your personal life, business or ministry? What is happening right now that could present serious problems if it were to escalate or be ignored? Learn to lead
with prevention! JS
